Chaplaincy Services

The hospital chaplaincy team provides a confidential service offering spiritual and pastoral care and religious support for patients, their relatives and staff across the Trust.

The team is made up of experienced health care chaplains from the main Christian faiths and trained volunteers, known as chaplaincy visitors, who spend time on the wards visiting patients.

Chaplains seek to support patients and staff of all faiths as well as those who have no faith or religious belief.

The Work of Patient Visitors

Patient visitors are also volunteers from the local community. They visit specific patients who may be lonely or in need of extra visits, identified by the chaplain and his team, members of staff or the patient’s family.

The Chapel

The Hospital chapel is in the main corridor near to the Kempston Road entrance.

It is open 24 hours a day, and is used by patients, relatives/carers and staff as a place of quiet, prayer and reflection.

A Muslim Prayer Room is adjacent to the Chapel, and there is a volunteer Imam to lead prayers. He can be contacted on 01234 355122 ext 2039.  For more information on the prayer room please click here.

Services in the Chapel

Wednesday 12.30pm ‘Holy Communion’ – Church of England

Friday 12.30pm ‘Roman Catholic Mass’

Help getting to the Chapel: Volunteers from the chaplaincy team can provide wheelchair transport to and from the Chapel. If patients would like this assistance please ask a member of the ward staff to contact the chaplain.
