Delivery Suite

The Delivery Suite is situated on the first floor of the Cygnet Wing, our dedicated women’s and children’s wing. The suite has a birthing pool and eight delivery rooms. Each delivery room contains a multi-positional bed and armchair and we have a large supply of birthing balls and bean bags to aid comfort throughout labour and promote active birth.

babyEach room has access to the patient call television, telephone and internet system and there are shower facilities on the suite.

Mothers and birth partners also have access to a parents' sitting room with a self service drinks machine. A father's overnight stay room is available and is equipped with a double sofa bed and en suite facilities. An automated snack /cold drinks dispenser is situated in the lobby area adjacent to the lift.

Included in the Delivery Suite is a theatre complex, including an anaesthetic, recovery area and blood bank facility. The recovery area is also used as a 'high dependency area' for women requiring this type of care.

Onset of Labour

When you think your labour is beginning, please telephone the Delivery Suite, direct line on 01234 795805. Your partner, a close friend or relative may stay with you during labour.

Please bring with you for yourself:

  • Your maternity notes
  • Individualised care plan delivery suite
  • Nightdress, dressing gown, slippers
  • Day clothes
  • Toilet requisites, eg: soap, flannel, towels etc
  • Sanitary panties or briefs
  • Sanitary towels
  • Good supporting bras
  • One box breast pads
  • One box paper tissues

For your baby:

  • One box disposable nappies, size 6 - 11 lbs (approximately 20)
  • Soap or bath lotion of your choice
  • Cotton wool
  • Baby vests / Babygros
