Bedford Hospital NHS Trust is situated near the town centre in Bedford, there are three main entrances to the hospital site, all of which have car parks: map

  1. Via Ampthill Road (A&E and Outpatients department)
  2. Via Britannia Road
  3. Via Kempston Road

From the M1 Motorway

  1. Leave the M1 at J13 follow the A421 signposted Bedford
  2. Join the B530 signposted Kempston
  3. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit signposted B530 (Ampthill Road)
  4. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Ampthill Road
  5. At mini roundabout take 2nd exit onto Ampthill Road
  6. (A&E entrance) At traffic signals turn left onto Britannia Road
  7. Arrive at Bedford Hospital

Park & Ride

A Park & Ride bus service operates from the Elstow Park & Ride Site, with a direct service to and from the Hospital between 7.00am to 7.00pm, running every 15 minutes, or every 10 minutes at peak times. By Bus or Coach

There are numerous other bus services around Bedfordshire that stop at Bedford Hospital. Buses and Coaches also stop in Bedford Town Centre and Bedford Bus Station, which is about a twenty minute walk or short taxi ride to the hospital. By Train

Bedford Midland mainline station is situated about half mile from the hospital and is only a 10-15 minute walk away or short taxi ride.

Bedford St. Johns Station is about a quarter of a mile from the hospital (about 5 minutes walk). Please note that this station may not be suitable for some people as it is unmanned, involves climbing steps to the main road and there is no taxi service from the station.

There are drop off points at the Kempston Road, Britannia Road and the Accident & Emergency/Outpatients entrances.

There is a covered and well lit cycle store at the Kempston Road entrance and numerous cycle locking points at various locations around the hospital site.
